About Us

Our Beginning

From Be Vintage to Magu — a journey shaped by experience and motherhood.

Magu was born out of over a decade of furniture-making and the arrival of one very special muse — my daughter.

I started my first studio, Be Vintage, in 2013. For years, we crafted timeless furniture for homes across India. In 2021, after becoming a mother, my work naturally slowed, but the love for making never stopped. In fact, the first two pieces we designed in our kids’ line were for her. That’s where Magu truly began — with her.

Our Shift

A crib, a gap in the market, and a new direction.

In 2023, we launched our first collection of cribs — thoughtfully designed for new parents and their babies. A crib is often the first piece of furniture parents buy, even before the baby arrives. It’s emotional. It’s important. And it needs to be 100% right — safe, sturdy, and beautiful.

When the collection received a heartfelt response, we knew this was more than a one-time launch. In 2024, we made the decision to fully pivot into children’s furniture — and Magu was officially born.

What We Make

Furniture for children, made to grow with them.

Today, Magu offers a full range of furniture for children aged 0 to 15 — from cribs and toddler beds to step stools, chairs, and tables.

Everything is designed with intention, built for real use, and made to last. Most of our pieces — especially cribs and beds — are handcrafted in-house at our studio in Bangalore. We use solid wood, child-safe materials, and water-based, non-toxic finishes that meet the highest safety standards.

We believe furniture for kids should be practical, safe, and also beautiful — something that fits seamlessly into your home and your child’s life.

Why Magu

The name comes from love.

Magu means “baby” in Kannada — a word often used affectionately for children, no matter how grown up they get. It’s one of those words that carries warmth, familiarity, and the comfort of home.

And just like in our family, where Magu is said with love, every home has its own version — a word, a nickname, a language — that means the same thing: you’ll always be my baby.

That feeling is universal. And that’s what Magu stands for.

Meet Magu the Mouse

Our unexpected, gentle little mascot.

And then there’s Magu the Mouse — our curious little mascot who scampers through our stories.

We didn’t plan for him. He simply appeared one day — sweet, wide-eyed, and quietly magical — just like the children we design for. Now he lives in the corners of our brand and the hearts of our little customers, reminding us all to stay small, stay kind, and stay curious.
